Karsten Oberle received the Dipl.-Ing. (FH) degree in communications engineering from the University of Applied Sciences "Fachochschule für Technik" Mannheim, Germany, in 1998. In the same year he joined the Alcatel Research Center in Stuttgart.
Currently he is leading the Global Railway Practice within Transportation Sales in the Nokia TEPS (Transportation, Energy and Public Sector) Division.
As Global Practice Lead he is responsible to expand the business for Nokia in the Railway Sector with novel solutions. A focus is currently on Cyber Security for Railways and IoT for Railways. This includes, building and managing new sales programs, steering of global business development activities and consulting of regional sales and marketing teams on customer engagements.
From 2015 till 2017 he was Program Owner for Connected Mobility, driving Business Development on connected mobility for the transportation market with focus on the Automotive Industry (Connected Car).
Before that he was 17 Years in Bell Labs Research working in different technology areas. During that time, he authored and co-authored more than 40 papers for conferences and journals and has filed more than 20 patents.
