Innovation and Sustainability in High Speed Rail
High speed rail is seen by policymakers across the globe as having a critical role to play in delivering sustainable and energy-efficient passenger transport over distances of up to 1 000 km. Recent experience has shown that rail can compete with short-haul air, gaining modal share and in some cases serving as a complementary add-on to domestic flights. However, developing new lines is costly and the planning process can be fraught. In this broadcast, our panel of specialists representing operators, policymakers and the supply chain will discuss how these challenges can be overcome, and assess the trends that will shape the development of global high speed rail projects in the years ahead.
November 21 2023 14.00 - 15.00 GMT
Key topics to be covered will include:
- Innovation in rolling stock and infrastructure management
- Best practice in project management
- How high speed rail can help governments meet green goals
- Competition in the market and for the market
- Ensuring high speed projects complement existing networks
